Continuing Education at Veterinary Dental Services

From time to time, we conduct courses for veterinarians and technicians on veterinary dental topics. We have given wet lab courses for veterinarians on dental extraction techniques, for technicians on proper dental prophylaxis techniques, and for all veterinary hospital personnel on dental X-ray techniques.

Upcoming courses:

• Veterinary Dental Radiography for Veterinarians, Technicians, Office Personnel
  This course is scheduled on an as-requested basis for an individual practice. It consists of a Powerpoint lecture followed by a wet lab in which participants will take dental Xrays on cat and dog skulls utilizing the digital sensors at Veterinary Dental Services. Course limited to 4 active lab participants, but unlimited lecture participants from one veterinary practice. • 2/10/2008 Dental Extraction Lecture and Wet Lab for Veterinarians
  Six hour course for veterinarians on the indications and proper techniques including surgical flaps and tooth sectioning for dental extractions. The laboratory portion of the course uses the Columbia Dentoform models. Limited to 8 veterinarians; qualifies for 6 CE credits. Given by Laura M. • Tutorial/shadowing: A day of shadowing for veterinarians and technicians
  You may schedule a day with us watching us perform procedures. Limited to 2 participants from the same practice. Phone to reserve your day.

  Bring your own radiographs, cases for interpretation and consultation. Phone to schedule your session. $500.00/practice
  
  
• Dental Radiograph Consultation
  Send your radiographs and history. $60.00 telephone report; $80.00 written report. Phone to schedule your consultation.
  
  
• 1/13/2008 Dental Prophylaxis Lecture and Wet Lab for Technicians
  A six hour course covering oral examination, dental prophylaxis, including charting, record keeping, and instrument sharpening and care. The Powerpoint lecture will be followed by a wet lab in which participants will practice performing a complete dental prophylaxis on life-like Columbia Dentoform canine models using power and hand instrumentation. The course is limited to 8 participants to allow for individual attention. Given by Laura M. LeVan, DVM, Dipl AVDC at her Acton practice, Veterinary Dental Services 9AM to 3PM.
